diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests, and abbreviations.

This course teaches the introduction to ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM coding, coding conventions, coding
guidelines, hospital inpatient coding, and outpatient and physician office coding.
This course begins with an overview of coding concepts, terms, and procedures. Students will explore the
history of the ICD-10 coding system. Students will code diagnoses in the ICD-10-CM and use the chapter-specific coding guidelines to code diseases and conditions with specific and unique rules. Students will
complete course by learning how to code procedures in the ICD-10-PCS, rounding out their training in the
basics of coding with ICD-10. Students explore CPT Coding, CPT Evaluation and Management, and CPT
in various departments.
