In this course, students will master the Top 200 Drugs in organized sets of 20 medications at a time to make learning manageable and effective. For each group of 20 drugs, students will complete focused practice activities and then take a drug test that is paired with each chapter exam, allowing knowledge of medications to build alongside core coursework. Instruction includes engaging real-world stories, hands-on labs, fill-in-the-blank exercises, matching activities, case scenarios, games, and interactive reviews designed to help students truly understand not just memorize each medication’s name, classification, indication, side effects, interactions, and special considerations. This structured approach ensures students learn, retain, and confidently apply their Top 200 drug knowledge in both classroom and clinical settings.

This course teaches extemporaneous compounding, compounding of liquid, semisolid, and solid drugs as well as suppositories and parenteral products. This course also teaches parenteral preparations, types of asepsis, equipment and supplies, laminar airflow hoods, compounding of a parenteral and TPN product, preparing an IV Piggyback, large volume parenterals, preparation of IV admixtures, non-injecting products and compounding records, and policies and procedures for sterile product preparation. Students are introduced to medication and compliance, facilities and equipment, sterile and non-sterile compounding procedures, handling, packaging, storage and disposal.
